In GB151, clause 5.8.3.2, figure (c) shows that the heat exchange tube is slightly higher than the weld corner. The note in Table 33 states that this applies to conditions with high pressure. My question is: 1. Does this apply when the pressure is high on the tube side, or when it is high on the shell side? 2. How can heat exchange tubes that are slightly higher than the weld corners be suitable for high-pressure operating conditions? Could you explain the principle?
