I have a screw conveyor in my hands; upon opening it, I found that the spiral coating (it seems to be an electroplating process) had come off. I tested the material of this coating, and its composition is quite unusual. Moreover, this coating is only present on the outer edge of the spiral, covering an area of about 3 cm in width, while the rest of the surface is made of ordinary 316 stainless steel. So the question is: how should I repair this situation? Where can it be repaired? This thing comes from the Japanese devils, so sending it back to the factory for repair is too costly and unnecessary. Thank you first!
The coating shouldn’t be an alloy structure, right? This is a cobalt-based alloy; plating should not be used. Cobalt-based alloys are generally used in applications requiring high temperature and wear resistance; it is recommended to have them handled by professional maintenance personnel or manufacturers.
