Why do some equipment manufacturers use non-standard flanges?
Do I need to get their specialized staff to carry out repairs, after-sales service, and things like that? I also can’t figure out why it’s non-standard instead of standard
Custom production must be more troublesome, right? The cost will only be higher
There are many manufacturers of custom flanges in Hebei that sell them by kilogram. There is only one reason for this: to cut costs. It is useful in many places, so the market for custom flanges is quite large.
How is it possible to cut costs? The thickness of the custom flanges they use isn’t thin at all, and their outer diameter is also quite large
Which standard do you mean by standard flange? Many mechanical devices in our country are modeled after those from abroad, and there are also different standards across various industries in the country. . Moreover, the standards vary from one period to another; even newly manufactured equipment may still follow those of the past. Our company has a series of submersible pumps that were designed based on Japanese designs, and to this day the flange standards used are still those from Japan. For twenty or thirty years now, no one has tried to make any changes – that’s just how things are in state-owned enterprises
There are many standards; generally, national standards are used in China. To keep up with international standards, many equipment manufacturers now adopt American standards, as well as standards from Germany, the UK, Japan, and others. It is advisable to inquire about the standards used by the manufacturer. If non-standard components are used intentionally, it is likely that the manufacturer does so for its own benefit, resulting in something that cannot be replaced
Flanges actually come in only old standard and new standard versions. The old standard flanges have a slightly smaller outer diameter and are a few millimeters thinner than those of the new standard; otherwise, the center of the bolt holes is the same as well as their size. Of course, the old standard flanges are cheaper. In fact, flanges of both old and new standards can be connected to each other. Of course, pressure vessels must use flanges that meet the new standard, as those of the old standard will not be accepted
It is custom-made; there are no standards, so the flanges are determined based on where they will be used, and customized accordingly
