Type B mesh belt conveyors are highly suitable for transporting various types of goods such as bags and pallets. They are widely used in the food industry. These conveyors consist of a type B mesh belt, a frame, and a driving mechanism, and they feature fast transportation speeds, easy operation, as well as the ability to handle the concurrent transport of multiple different types of goods. Due to the easy connection for filtration between mesh belts, multiple mesh belt lines along with their type B mesh belt conveyors or specialized machines can be used to create a complex logistics conveying system that meets various process requirements. With the advancement of modern science and technology, the type B belt conveyor has evolved from a simple conveying line in the past to a mechanical device that enables automated control of the conveyed materials. In B-type belt conveyors that are being developed toward more automated operation, the frequency converter plays a key role in determining the power consumption of the entire conveying system. Due to the fact that B-type belt conveyors operate at normal frequency for extended periods and cannot start or stop smoothly, and because hydraulic couplings are used to enable smooth starting of the drums in these conveyors, the voltage in the power grid becomes unstable. The motors of type B belt conveyors are subject to severe mechanical shock, significant heating, and rapid wear. The protection and maintenance of these conveyors require a lot of effort and cost, and they also have high energy consumption. Additionally, the short start-up time and high loading force associated with type B belt conveyors can cause damage to their components, which in turn affects the delivery efficiency of food production companies. As a manufacturer of Type B mesh belt conveyors, we have compiled some frequency conversion modification solutions for such conveyors based on our production and inspection experience as follows. Food production enterprises must take into account the actual conditions on site when deciding on the use of belt conveyors of type B. Since the drive motor of such conveyors operates in two quadrants while transporting materials, a two-quadrant frequency converter must be used. Based on the operating conditions of the Type B belt conveyor, the selected frequency converter is capable of generating a DC braking torque during heavy-load or no-load starts of the motor, as well as when the machine is shut down. This ensures a smooth start-up of the Type B belt conveyor, reduces interruptions, and minimizes stress on the mechanical equipment. The parameters of the selected frequency converter are as follows. Output power: 250kW; Rated voltage: 660V; Rated current: 255A. Output frequency (variable frequency control): 0~50Hz; Adjustment accuracy: ±1%Hz. Protection functions: Overload, overcurrent, leakage current, phase loss and undervoltage protection; the overload capacity is 200% for 60 seconds. The modified drive system consists of a variable frequency drive → motor → reducer → Type B conveyor belt → conveyor belt.
