In today’s society, transmitters are used in various industries. As more people use them, errors in operation tend to occur more frequently. For most non-professionals, the problems that arise during the installation of transmitters are generally similar. Today, we will briefly discuss the common issues encountered during installation and how to address them. The best way is to adopt an on-site installation approach. However, if the transmitter is installed on-site in harsh environments such as those in metallurgy or mining industries, it is particularly prone to failure. To avoid the effects of the installation environment, it is necessary to keep the installation area as clean as possible and prevent foreign objects from entering the transmitter. During the installation process, in addition to selecting the appropriate installation tools, the installation steps must be followed strictly according to the instruction manual. When the pressure indication is incorrect after the transmitter is installed, we can carry out the following checks: 1. Inaccurate reference pressure values can also cause abnormal pressure indications. Therefore, we need to choose a reference pressure gauge with high accuracy. 2. Check whether the power supply of the pressure transmitter is functioning properly; ensure that there is no significant load applied to the circuit. 3. Incorrect wiring. Depending on the input of the pressure indicating instrument, the wiring at the output of the pressure transmitter also varies. Some transmitters can use direct input wiring, while others require a resistor to be connected before the input. 4. The influence of temperature. When the temperature of the pipeline in the pressure transmitter is too high, it affects the proper operation of the pressure sensor, thereby leading to malfunctions. Therefore, the operating temperature of the pressure sensor must be strictly controlled, preferably kept within the range of -20 to 70°C. 5. Blockage by foreign objects. Once foreign objects enter the pipeline of a pressure transmitter, it will cause blockage in the pipeline, leading to abnormal pressure readings from the transmitter. 6. The equipment enclosure is not grounded. The solution to this problem is very simple; it is sufficient to ground the device’s casing. In addition to this, when installing pressure transmitters, there are several things we need to keep in mind: 1. When measuring steam or other high-temperature media, heat dissipation tubes should be used to connect the transmitter to the pipeline, and the pressure in the pipeline should be transmitted to the transmitter. When the medium under test is water vapor, an appropriate amount of water must be poured into the heat dissipation tube to prevent overheated vapor from coming into direct contact with the pressure transmitter and damaging the sensor. 2. During design and installation, consideration should be given to placing the pressure tapping holes at the bottom of the oil tank as low as possible in order to eliminate errors caused by temperature changes; temperature compensation should be introduced if necessary. The installation of pressure transmitters is also a matter that requires expertise. What has been discussed above are the points to keep in mind when installing pressure transmitters. Only by installing them properly can their functions be fully utilized, thereby meeting the requirements for measurement accuracy. 3. When measuring steam or other high-temperature media, the temperature of the pressure transmitter should not exceed its maximum operating temperature; if the temperature is higher than this limit, a cooling device must be used. 4. The medium being measured must not freeze, as this will damage the diaphragm of the sensor elements and lead to damage of the transmitter; temperature protection for the pressure transmitter is necessary to prevent freezing. 5. Be sure not to use the pressure transmitter with a voltage higher than 36V applied to it, as this can damage the transmitter; also avoid touching the diaphragm with hard objects, as this can damage the isolation diaphragm.
