The new type of toothed chain is a toothed chain with internal and external composite meshing, mainly composed of chain plates, guide plates, and pins. The performance of this new type of toothed chain has been improved over that of traditional toothed chains; it is suitable for operation at high speeds, with variable speeds, and under varying loads. It reduces operating noise, minimizes the effects associated with the polygonal shape of the teeth, and enhances the efficiency of power transmission. The new type of toothed chain combines the advantages of internal and external composite meshing toothed chains; during the internal and external meshing process, the gear profiles on the inner and outer sides of the chain links, along with the generatrices on both sides of the pin shafts, take turns bearing the load, thereby reducing wear on the pin shafts and chain links of the toothed chain, as well as minimizing wear on the teeth of the sprockets that drive the chain. The performance of new toothed chains is improving and wear is decreasing, but wear on toothed chains remains relatively severe. We can approach this from two aspects in terms of reduction methods. First, increasing the hardness of the pin surface and reducing its roughness can effectively improve the wear resistance of toothed chains. Secondly, under lubricated conditions with a medium present, the wear of the new type of toothed chain is primarily caused by abrasive particles, although there is also some mild wear and fatigue ; Chain plates with a relatively high lower bainite content, at 70%-80% being appropriate, enable toothed chains to exhibit strong resistance to fatigue wear and abrasive wear.
