Now, a process evaluation is being conducted for welding 30408 and Q345R together, using electrode E309-16 at a thickness of 10 mm. Is it necessary to conduct impact tests? If so, should these tests be carried out on the heat-affected zones of both base materials as well as on the weld area, or only on the weld area and the heat-affected zone of the Q345R base material? Once the process evaluation is successful, according to point e in section 6.1.2.1 of page 36 of standard 47014, can this be applied to welding within the same group as 30408, as well as for welding within the same group as Q345R?
In a normal impact test, impact tests are conducted on the weld area as well as the heat-affected zone of the base material; therefore, the heat-affected zones of both types of base materials need to be tested； Welding procedure qualification requires different treatments for different welds.
