The first batch of quench heat exchangers for the 1.5 million tons/year ethylene production facility using the LUMMUS process in Gulei, Fujian, built by Maoming Gravity

On April 26, the first batch of quench heat exchangers for the LUMMUS process in Fujian Gulei 1.5 million tons per year ethylene and downstream processing complex project of Fujian Zhongsha Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the Zhongsha Gulei Ethylene Project) were developed through an integrated design, manufacturing, and inspection process at Maoming Gravity Petrochemical Equipment Co., Ltd., and were successfully shipped out. This is the first project in which Maoming Gravity has collaborated directly with the patent holder LUMMUS, marking a milestone achievement in the company’s efforts to internationalize its large-scale, high-end chemical processing equipment, and it holds significant exemplary value. As the main supplier for the 1.5 million tons per year large-scale ethylene project in Zhongsha Gulei, Maoming Gravity is responsible for the design and manufacturing of the convection section modules for the cracking furnace as well as the quench heat exchanger system. The company brought together its best internal resources, successfully overcame numerous technical challenges, and completed the product delivery tasks on time with high quality. It is understood that the China-Saudi Arabia Gulei Ethylene Project is located in the Gulei Petrochemical Base in Zhangzhou, Fujian (one of China’s seven major petrochemical industry bases). It represents a key project for capacity and investment cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia, as well as part of the third batch of special projects funded by foreign investment. It is also an important achievement in advancing the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision. The project will be completed in 2026, with an annual ethylene production capacity expected to reach up to 1.8 million tons. This will play a positive role in meeting the market and customers’ demand for high-end chemical products as well as in promoting the development of the related industrial chain.
