In the petrochemical industry, stress corrosion cracking can occur easily due to the corrosive nature of the process media, combined with the inherent stresses in the bolts. The figure below shows the rich gas water cooler in a petrochemical plant, where stress corrosion fracture of the bolts occurred on the process side. Stress corrosion is highly concealed in petrochemical equipment, while also posing significant hazards.
In the petrochemical industry, due to the corrosive substances present in the process media, combined with the stress on the bolts themselves, stress corrosion fracture of the bolts can easily occur. Taking the water-cooled rich gas cooler of a certain petrochemical plant as an example, the bolts on the process side of the rich gas suffered from stress corrosion fracture. This type of stress corrosion is difficult to detect in petrochemical equipment, and it is extremely harmful. .
