Solvent-based inorganic zinc-rich coatings are two-component solvent-based coatings; the weight percentage of zinc in the dry film is 85%. On properly treated steel structures, these coatings can withstand continuous high temperatures of up to 399°C without the use of a topcoat, as well as intermittent high temperatures of up to 427°C. With the use of the recommended silicone topcoat, they can resist continuous high temperatures of up to 538°C and intermittent high temperatures of up to 649°C. Due to the high performance, high heat resistance, and strong corrosion resistance requirements of such coatings, their application process differs from that of conventional coatings. There are many aspects that require attention, including surface treatment, selection of spraying equipment, curing of the paint film, control of film thickness, and the application of subsequent coats of paint ； Practice has shown that once defects such as cracking, peeling, bubbling, pinholes, and softening occur in zinc inorganic silicate primers, these defects often spread over a large area; the rework rate can exceed 90%, which has a significant impact on both coating costs and product delivery times.
