Due to the complexity of marine environments, single-function anti-corrosion coatings are no longer sufficient to meet the huge demands driven by the development of the modern marine anti-corrosion coating industry; it has become imperative to develop coatings with diverse functions. Therefore, when designing coating formulations, it is necessary to take multiple factors into account; not only their corrosion resistance but also their weather resistance, antibacterial properties, and other characteristics. 1. The coating formula is designed by selecting appropriate film-forming substances, additives, fillers, etc., to endow it with functional diversity; 2. Marine anti-corrosion coatings have a short protection period, and there is an urgent need to improve their durability. At present, most marine anti-corrosion coatings in our country are still traditional anti-corrosion coatings; they have a short protection period, and their corrosion resistance and weather resistance are inadequate, which limits their scope of application significantly. Therefore, we should start from the characteristics of marine corrosion environments, take the corrosion mechanism of a specific type of corrosion as a starting point, develop different marine corrosion protection coatings for various application environments, explore their protective mechanisms, and create long-lasting marine anti-corrosion coatings; 3. The development of green, environmentally friendly, and energy-efficient marine anti-corrosion coatings. With the growing awareness of environmental protection and the establishment of the standard for \"Green Product Evaluation Coatings,\" traditional solvent-based anti-corrosion coatings can no longer meet the new requirements. Solvent-free powder-based, solvent-free room-temperature curing, low-VOC, and high-solid-content marine anti-corrosion coatings should be given priority in development.
