In our daily work, we often receive various CAD drawings sent by others. Sometimes, when these drawings are opened, the CAD fonts in certain areas appear as question marks or garbled characters. What should be done in such cases? Don’t panic – the Haochen CAD software has a solution that will help you quickly fix the issue of corrupted CAD fonts when opening CAD drawings! When opening such CAD drawings, the HaoChen CAD software will immediately display the following dialog box, indicating that files are missing. The reason for garbled text on the drawings or the failure to display rebar symbols is actually quite simple: we lack the relevant CAD font files on our computers. Method 1: Replace with a new font. Step 1: Select the CAD font that shows garbled characters or question marks ； Step 2: Use the shortcut Ctrl+1 to bring up the \"Properties bar\" and view the corresponding font style ； Step 3: Use the shortcut key ST to open \"Text Style\" and find the corresponding font style. If there is an (X) mark next to the SHX font and the larger font, it indicates that the corresponding font files are missing, thus making it clear which font styles are lacking ； Step 4: Scroll down to the font options bar; you can replace the SHX font with txt.shx and the larger font with gbcbig.shx. Click \"Apply\", as shown in the figure below. Of course, a few remote fonts may not be able to be replaced successfully; in such cases, you can refer to Method 2. Method 2: Installing missing CAD fonts – In addition to replacing the CAD fonts, we can also resolve this issue once and for all by installing the missing fonts. Of course, these font file resources need to be obtained through the internet or other means. The HaoChen CAD software typically uses two font formats: one is the SHX format, which is a CAD font file ； The other format is TTF, which is a system font file. Due to different installation paths, the installation methods for these two fonts also vary; the specific steps are as follows. 1. The installation path for SHX format CAD fonts is the «Fonts» folder located within the installation directory of HaoChen CAD software, as shown in the figure below. 2. The installation path for CAD fonts in TTF format is located on the system drive, within the «Fonts» folder of the Windows folder, as shown in the figure below. As for the issue of abnormal display of reinforcement symbols, we provided relevant explanations in a previous tweet. The font file for reinforcement symbols is SJQY.ttf; we simply need to place this font file in the Fonts folder within the Windows folder on the system drive, and then the reinforcement symbols will be displayed properly.
