The 28th National Urea Plant Technology Exchange Conference was held in Dezhou, Shandong. Author/Source: Sinochem News Network. Date: June 19, 2019. Clicks: 48. The 28th National Urea Plant Technology Exchange Conference, organized jointly by the National Fertilizer Industry Information Center, Shanghai Chemical Research Institute Co., Ltd., and China Wuhuan Engineering Corporation, was held from June 10 to 12 in Dezhou, Shandong. More than 200 representatives from urea production enterprises, design institutes, as well as upstream, downstream, and related industries across the country attended this conference. The conference featured in-depth discussions and exchanges on advanced technologies for ammonia synthesis systems; capacity expansion and energy-saving measures in urea production; product quality control and structural adjustments; equipment management and maintenance; advanced technologies for environmental protection (emission control of waste gases and wastewater); the use of new equipment and materials; the development of downstream products from urea; and enterprise management. The conference also featured 23 excellent thematic presentations. During the event, China Five Rings Engineering Co., Ltd. held a symposium on providing high-quality and efficient services to customers through advanced and practical technologies as well as extensive engineering experience; Stamicarbon Company organized a symposium on an overview and exchange of its renovation services; and experts from the National Urea Technology Advisory Committee were brought in to offer free technical consultations. The experts and representatives present discussed in detail the systematic transformation of urea production enterprises and the methods for energy conservation and consumption reduction, as well as issues such as dust emissions, equipment corrosion, triamine co-production, and product quality control. It is reported that the newly built urea production facility at Shandong Hualu Hengsheng Chemical Co., Ltd., with a daily capacity of 3,000 tons, utilizes a new manufacturing process developed by China Wuhuan Engineering Corporation – one that enables the efficient synthesis of urea with low energy consumption. This facility was successfully put into operation on May 3, 2018, and from that month onward it operated at an average load of over 90%, with peak loads exceeding 100%. The quality of the urea produced is stable and meets the standards required for high-grade urea used in agriculture. The unit has been operating at nearly full capacity continuously for over a year, with a production volume of 967,000 tons. Under full-load conditions, the steam consumption (2.2 MPa saturated steam) is 0.75 t/t Ur, and the ammonia consumption is 0.57 t/t Ur, which represents an international advanced level. Manager Sun Xi of China Five Rings Company said that the \"high-efficiency synthesis, low-energy consumption urea technology\" has, through the actual operation of two production units – particularly its successful application in Hualu Hengsheng’s plant with a daily production capacity of 3,000 tons – fully demonstrated the advantage of this technology: low energy consumption. This technology is applicable not only to newly built units, but also to energy-saving and capacity-expansion upgrades of traditional CO2 stripping units, ammonia stripping units, and aqueous solution full-circulation units, achieving significant savings in energy consumption. Based on the operation of plants with a production capacity of 3,000 tons per day, there is still room to further reduce the energy consumption associated with the \"high-efficiency synthesis, low-energy urea production technology\"; efforts to save energy and reduce consumption are endless. Bao Pengfei, the director of the urea production unit at Hualu Hengsheng Company, said in his report on efficient synthesis and low-energy-consuming urea production processes that, more than a year after the plant began operating, all performance indicators are at relatively satisfactory levels. The product quality remains stable, and the steam consumption is already at the best level among currently operating plants in China; there is still room for further reduction. During the conference, the participating delegates were also taken on a site visit to the million-ton urea production facility of Shandong Hualu Hengsheng Chemical Co., Ltd.
