More than 1,400 people work on the site every day, which is more than during the peak construction period before the New Year. Despite the impact of the pandemic, this project still aims to complete the mechanical work by the end of September. ”said Luo Zhijia, a technician at the park’s ammonia synthesis project. It is understood that ammonia synthesis in the coal chemical industry involves the production of liquid ammonia from nitrogen and hydrogen under high temperature and pressure in the presence of a catalyst. In addition to being used directly as fertilizer, nitrogen fertilizers used in agriculture, such as urea, ammonium nitrate, ammonium phosphate, ammonium chloride, and various nitrogen-containing compound fertilizers, all rely on ammonia as a raw material. Once the Yidu ammonia synthesis project is completed, liquid ammonia will be transported directly via pipelines to downstream enterprises within the industrial park for use in fertilizer production, saving over 15 million yuan in transportation costs each year. “Construction of this project began in early 2018, with a total investment of nearly 2.4 billion yuan. It covers an area of over 380 mu and is designed to have an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of synthetic ammonia; at present, more than half of the required investment has been committed. If the European equipment and materials are delivered on schedule, there should be no problem in completing construction and putting it into operation this year. ”Peng Hongxin, chairman of Yidu Xingfa Ecological Park Development Company, said. According to Li Xu, a senior engineer at Xingfa Group, the project adopts advanced coal-water slurry gasification technology in the industry. Core technologies such as isothermal conversion technology, low-temperature methanol washing gas purification technology, and low-pressure ammonia synthesis technology are all energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies promoted by the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association. To accelerate the construction progress, contractors such as Sinochem 16th Construction Company have equipped themselves with professional technical and construction teams. The project is equipped with environmental protection facilities such as sulfur recovery, flue gas desulfurization and denitration, wastewater treatment, and dust removal, ensuring that all emission standards meet advanced domestic levels upon completion. Wang Jie, the executive deputy general manager of Xingfa Group Co., Ltd., is the main person in charge of the synthetic ammonia project. He said that since early last year, the company has been recruiting over 100 technical experts across the country, and has entrusted two large chemical enterprises in Shandong with providing training for them. Ordinary workers are taught by experts and professors hired by the company who come to give lectures on site. After passing the exams, the employees who attended the training first went to the affiliated companies within the industrial park to work under supervision, thereby strengthening and improving their operational skills. By the time the installation work on the ammonia synthesis plant was nearing completion, the more than 300 employees who had received training were ready to take up their positions and carry out the plant’s commissioning tasks with ease. “The manufacturing enterprises in our park did not take any holidays during the Spring Festival; they operated continuously, took strict precautions, and no outbreaks of the disease occurred. However, the synthetic ammonia project is under construction and did not resume operations until mid-March. Those returning from other provinces must undergo two nucleic acid tests; only after passing these can they start working on site. Everyone who enters the park must have their temperature taken twice and be disinfected twice. Enter the main gate once, and enter the workshop once.
