Latest progress on Henan Jindadi’s Phase IV 600,000-ton ammonia synthesis project Author/Source: Refinery & Petrochemical Trends Date: March 16, 2020 Page views: 27 Recently, Henan Jindadi Chemical Co., Ltd. signed another contract with the technology licensor Nanjing Dunxian Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. regarding the transfer of isothermal shift technology for its Phase IV 600,000-ton ammonia synthesis project. This is another major coal chemical project undertaken by Nanjing Dunxian in 2020, following the 1.2-million-ton-per-year ethylene glycol and associated syngas project in Lujiang, Anhui. To date, Nanjing Dunxian has undertaken 49 sets of isothermal conversion units and 75 sets of isothermal conversion furnaces, including large-scale projects such as the 1 million-ton ethylene glycol production facility of Air Products in the United States, the 40 million-ton integrated refining and chemical processing plant of Zhejiang Petrochemical, the 2.2 million-ton methanol production facility of Ningxia Baofeng, the 2 million-ton coal-to-oil project of Inner Mongolia Yitai, the 400,000-ton ethylene glycol production facility of Shaanxi Yulin Energy, and the 1 million-ton combined alcohol and ammonia production project of Shandong Hualu Hengsheng. For the 600,000-ton synthetic ammonia project in Phase 4 of Jindadi, the Jinhua Reactor 3.0 is still used for gasification. To take advantage of the characteristics of this reactor type – low water vapor ratio and high CO content – Nanjing Dunxian’s “two-stage isothermal shift technology” is employed for the shift process. This approach ensures consistency with the design of Phase 3, resulting in the lowest overall investment, simplest operation, optimal energy consumption levels, and the most stable system performance. It is understood that this project covers an area of 300 mu, with a total construction area of 185,000 square meters; of this, 165,000 square meters are dedicated to factory buildings, while 20,000 square meters are used for warehouses. Process technology: Coal is used to produce syngas, and trace impurity gases are removed through devices such as isothermal shift, low-temperature methanol washing, and liquid nitrogen washing to obtain high-purity carbon dioxide gas; sodium bicarbonate is then produced using the wet decomposition method. Main equipment: 1 set of air separation unit, 2 gasification furnaces, 2 isothermal shift furnaces, 1 set of low-methanol unit, 1 set of liquid nitrogen washing unit, 1 set of synthesis unit, 1 chiller, carbonization tower, wet decomposition tower, 6 centrifuges, 6 dryers, and 6 packaging machines.
