The Nitric Acid** and Calcium-Magnesium Fertilizers Subcommittee completed six tasks / Author/Source: Sinochem New Network / Date: 2020-09-29 / Clicks: 35. On September 27, 2020, the Nitric Acid** industry meeting as well as the meeting of the Calcium-Magnesium Fertilizers Subcommittee were held in Chengdu, Sichuan. Gu Zongqin, president of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, said that since 2019, with the strong support of various member companies, the Nitric Acid** and Calcium-Magnesium Fertilizers Subcommittee has completed six major tasks. First, active efforts are being made to address the safety issues related to *ao acid. In line with the \"Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals Subject to Special Control (Draft for Comment)\」developed jointly by ministries such as the Emergency Management Department, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Transport, opinions from various enterprises are sought, and these are promptly forwarded to departments such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Two rounds of specialized inspections on *ao acid an in **organizations were conducted; timely communication was maintained with the enterprises, and major safety hazards related to *ao acid an in these enterprises were compiled to provide a basis for their corrective actions. Attended the seminar on strengthening safety management technologies for *ao acid an organized by the Ministry of Emergency Management, presented information on the *ao acid an industry, and actively shared the company’s opinions. **The Nitrogen Fertilizer Technology Center organized the compilation of \"Essential Safety Analysis and Control in the Production Process of *ao Acid an Nitrogen Fertilizers\" to provide a basis for enterprises’ safety improvements. Second is to actively participate in the development of relevant standards and research projects. In January this year, the Group Standardization Working Committee of the Nitrogen Fertilizer Association was officially established, and 11 standards that had been submitted for approval were reviewed; among them, \"Magnesium Nitrate for Agricultural Use\", led by Shanxi Jinlan Chemical, was included in the first batch of standards for 2020. At the same time, a \"Proposal for Establishing Standards for Magnesium Nitrate in Agriculture\" was submitted to the National Agricultural Technology Extension Center. At the same time, the accounting of emissions and discharges for the nitric acid and *AO acid/an product manufacturing industries was completed as part of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment’s project on \"Accounting of Emissions and Discharges from Industrial Pollution Sources in the Second National Pollution Source Census.\" Collaboration was also provided with the Environmental Science Academy to help establish a data platform for such products related to this census. Third is to actively promote technological innovation in the industry. First, it is necessary to make use of the capabilities of the Nitric Acid and Nitrate Fertilizers Technology Center to carry out technical upgrades and renovations of existing facilities for nitric acid, *ao acid an, and *ao acid an calcium, while also advancing the research and deployment of new technologies. Second, carry out activities to select and promote advanced industry technologies. In 2019, the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association’s Science and Technology Awards recognized 26 winning projects. Among them, the project \"Development and Application of a 360,000-ton/year High-Efficiency Wide-Range Nitric Acid Production Unit\" developed by Xi’an Shanggu Power Co., Ltd. won the first prize; the project \"Development of Chlorine-Based Phosphatic and Potassic Fertilizers\" developed by Tianji Coal Chemical Group Co., Ltd. received the second prize. The projects \"A Production Method for Sulfur-Based Nitrate Fertilizers\" and \"Integrated Technology for High-Efficiency Multi-Component Liquid Fertilizers Based on UAN as a Nitrogen Source\" each won the third prize. In 2019, the Nitrogen Fertilizer Association awarded 6 industry patent prizes, three of which related to our nitric acid and amino acid industries. Third, actively carry out the appraisal of scientific and technological achievements. The appraisal of the scientific and technological achievements for two projects was completed successively: “Research and Application Results on the Production Process of Catalysts for Nitrous Oxide Emission Reduction” and “Integrated Membrane Filtration System for the Recovery of *ao Acid an Wastewater”. Fourth is to make efforts to promote the development of calcium magnesium nitrate fertilizers. Gu Zongqin said that since the establishment of the subcommittee for calcium magnesium nitrate fertilizers last September, the subcommittee has been actively working to foster the development of these fertilizers. First, launch a website and WeChat official account for calcium-magnesium nitrate fertilizers to enhance publicity efforts; second, encourage enterprises producing calcium-magnesium fertilizers to participate actively in conferences and trade shows, and organize the \"2019 Calcium-Magnesium Fertilizer Marketing Conference\" to discuss the development of the industry; third, collaborate with the Science and Technology Courtyard of Henan Agricultural University to carry out trials and demonstrations of calcium-magnesium fertilizers; fourth, convey the enterprises’ demands to the relevant regulatory authorities. To address the issue of preferential electricity prices for enterprises, a letter titled \"Proposal on Implementing a Phased Reduction in Electricity Costs for Calcium and Magnesium Fertilizer Manufacturers in Jiaocheng Area\" was submitted to the economic and industrial authorities of Lüliang City. At the same time, to address the impact of the explosion in Lebanon on the export of agricultural calcium nitrate, a document titled \"Explanation on the Properties and Applications of Agricultural Calcium Nitrate\" was submitted to the relevant authorities. Fifth is to promote low-carbon development in the industry. This involves carrying out the “China Nitric Acid Production N2O Emission Reduction Plan Project,” participating in the compilation of the “Research Project on N2O Emission Reduction in China’s Nitric Acid Industry,” and submitting materials on “Research and Development as well as Demonstration of Catalytic N2O Decomposition Technologies” to the Ministry of Science and Technology, as part of the initiatives seeking major research and development needs for the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Sixth is to do a good job in industry statistics and market information services. Starting in 2019, the Nitric Acid Branch began to keep statistics on the production, sales, inventory, and prices of liquid *ao acid an, while the Calcium and Magnesium Fertilizers Branch started to track the production and sales volumes of products such as *ao acid an calcium, calcium nitrate, and magnesium nitrate. Currently, the monthly and annual production statistics for various products are submitted to the respective companies on time, providing data support for their decision-making in areas such as production, sales, and operations.
