From October 14 to 16, 2020, the 2020 (9th) China International Coal Chemicals Development Forum was held in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province. Adhering to the principles of professionalism, authority, internationality, and high standards, this forum has invited enterprises, research institutions, and universities in the field of coal chemical industry from both domestic and international markets to participate. They come to showcase their achievements, exchange experiences, discuss potential collaborations, and engage in in-depth discussions on the current hot topics and challenges facing the development of coal chemistry. During this forum, Liu Zhongmin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, accompanied by Hu Qianlin, deputy secretary-general of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and others, visited the Jinhua furnace exhibition area for inspection. Academician Liu pointed out that the Jinhua furnace is the result of years of joint research by the Tsinghua University team and Shanxi Province. It enables integrated applications in the fields of chemical engineering, power generation, gas production, and heating, addressing the difficulties, challenges, and key issues in the development of the coal chemical industry. It represents one of the important approaches to water-coal slurry gasification in China, offering excellent energy-saving and environmental protection benefits. He praised the Jinhua furnace and hoped that it would continue to make further progress and achieve even greater achievements. At the Gasification and Environmental Protection sub-forum of the 2020 (9th) China International Coal Chemical Industry Development Forum, Wang Shuai, deputy general manager of Beijing Qingchuang Jinhua Technology Co., Ltd., introduced Jinhua’s furnace gasification technology. He pointed out that this technology has advantages in terms of environmental protection; it enables the mixing of multiple materials to produce pulp, and it can be used for the high-temperature melting and simultaneous treatment of hazardous waste such as distillation and reaction residues. Jinhua furnaces are widely used in fields such as coal-to-olefins, coal-to-ethylene glycol, and coal-to-hydrogen. To date, Jinhua furnace technology has been included in the **second batch of the National Development and Reform Commission’s List of Key Energy-Saving Technologies for Promotion**, as well as in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Plan for the Adoption of Clean Production Technologies in the nitrogen fertilizer industry. It is also considered an advanced and suitable energy-saving and emission-reduction technology to be promoted in the nitrogen fertilizer and methanol industries during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. The project’s achievements were included in China Coal Science and Technology, as well as in the list of “Top 10 News Stories” in the coal chemical and petrochemical industries; they were also listed among the “Top 10 Major Achievements” in the petrochemical industry for two consecutive years. During the exhibition, several organizations and experts visited the booth to learn about Jinhua furnace technology. This exhibition provided a valuable opportunity for the coal chemical industry, enterprises, and related sectors both at home and abroad to foster technical exchanges and promote innovative development within the industry. During that period, many exhibitors and enterprises showed great interest in and high praise for the Jinhua furnace, considering it to offer a Chinese solution for the clean, environmentally friendly, and efficient utilization of coal.
