At 17:00 on the afternoon of November 21, the new equipment for the stripping tower of the Weihua urea plant was successfully installed in place. The stripping tower is a key equipment in the urea plant, influencing both the energy consumption of the system and its stable operation. As the operating years increase, the problems encountered with the stripping tower become more severe. In 2020 alone, leaks in high-pressure equipment caused the system to shut down on 6 occasions, for a total of 37 days; of these, there were 4 leaks in the stripping tower itself, resulting in a total downtime of 17 days. Faced with the decreasing inspectability of the stripping tower, new problems keep emerging and its operational lifespan is nearing its limit. After discussion by the company’s technical committee, it was decided that this maintenance period would involve replacing the equipment in the stripping tower with new units.
