Why is a filter installed behind the evaporator in the ammonia oxidation to nitric acid process?
Liquid ammonia contains small amounts of impurities such as metal powders and oils; these impurities are removed using filters to prevent poisoning of the precious metal catalysts
The fine filter is primarily used for oil removal, as the liquid ammonia produced in ammonia synthesis plants contains oil; in some plants, an oil remover is also installed before the ammonia enters the evaporation stage! It is still very necessary.
