On the morning of August 15, 2023, the groundbreaking ceremony for the green and low-carbon comprehensive improvement project of Anhui Debang Chemical Co., Ltd. was held. The total investment in the upgrading and renovation project of Anhui Debang Chemical is 1.27 billion yuan, with construction planned in two phases. Phase 1 involves the upgrading and renovation of the ammonia synthesis system, requiring an investment of 670 million yuan. This includes facilities such as boilers, air separation units, gasification units, isothermal shift reactors, desulfurization and decarbonization units, compression systems, and low-pressure synthesis units, as well as upgrades in terms of intelligence and information technology, along with improvements to utility systems, all aimed at enhancing the safety, environmental protection, intelligence, and information technology capabilities of the ammonia synthesis system. After the renovation, the products will meet the needs of new industries such as photovoltaics. Meanwhile, through new processes, technologies, and advanced equipment, the safety and environmental performance of the systems will be improved, and energy consumption will be reduced. According to the publicly available environmental impact assessment information, two new SE-Dongfang furnaces will be installed as part of the upgrade and renovation of the ammonia synthesis system, while the batch gas production ammonia synthesis system will be phased out. Upon completion, the project will have a production capacity of 190,000 tons of liquid ammonia per year, along with 10,000 tons of methanol as a by-product. After the project is implemented, the existing production capacities of 600,000 tons per year of soda ash, 660,000 tons per year of chlor-alkali, and 30,000 tons per year of baking soda will remain unchanged.
