According to Sinochem New Network, on December 26, 2025, an expert evaluation meeting on \"Innovation in nitrogen efficiency-enhancing technologies and development of related products based on DMPP and NBPT\" was held in Wuwei, Gansu Province, by Wuwei Jincang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Jincang Technology). An expert panel composed of authorities in the field of agricultural technology was invited for this evaluation meeting. Xu Minggang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor at Shanxi Agricultural University, serves as the team leader; Gao Xiangzhao, the chief expert at the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, acts as the deputy leader. Tian Xiaohong, the Party secretary of the School of Resources and Environment at Northwest A&F University, Zhang Feng, the Party secretary of the Key Laboratory of Crops for Arid Habitats jointly established by Gansu Agricultural University and provincial/municipal authorities, and Yang Delong, the dean of the College of Agriculture at Gansu Agricultural University, are members of the expert group. The expert group agreed that the \"innovation in nitrogen-use-efficient technologies and the development of related products based on DMPP and NBPT\" yield significant improvements in production and income, and are at an internationally leading level; they recommended expanding demonstrations and promoting their widespread application. In China’s agricultural production, there have long been prominent issues such as high application rates of nitrogen fertilizers, low fertilizer utilization efficiency, and a slowdown in the increase in grain yields. As a new type of product, nitrogen fertilizer enhancers can bring significant agricultural and ecological benefits. Liu Jiahuan, technical director of Jincang Technology, explained that the company has developed innovative technologies to enhance the efficiency of nitrogen fertilizers, with urease inhibitors (NBPT) and nitrification inhibitors (DMPP) as key components. It has established an efficient utilization system for nitrogen fertilizers that takes into account increased and stable yields, reduced fertilizer use, lower emissions, as well as ecological safety. The company has set up production lines capable of producing 10,000 tons of NBPT and 10,000 tons of DMPP per year, providing a technology framework that can be applied to promote green and low-carbon development in agriculture and ensure food security in China. It is understood that through trials conducted on various crops in regions such as Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Anhui, Hebei, Shandong, Hunan, and Guangdong, Jincang Technology has confirmed that these two types of enhancers can maintain or even increase crop yields while reducing nitrogen use by 10%~30%. At the same time, nitrogen fertilizer enhancers also offer multiple benefits, including prolonging the duration of fertilizer effectiveness, improving fertilizer utilization efficiency, enhancing crop stress resistance, promoting root development, increasing the availability of soil elements, reducing the risk of soil acidification and alkalization, and contributing to carbon emission reduction. Xu Minggang pointed out that Jincang Technology has done a great deal of work in the research and application of nitrogen fertilizer enhancers. From product development and field trials to economic, ecological, and social benefits, it has achieved excellent results, providing technical support for balancing sustainable agricultural development with environmental protection. Yu Yizhong, chairman of Jincang Technology, said that the company is committed to becoming a globally leading provider of high-end fine chemicals, as well as a comprehensive service provider in modern agricultural technology, characterized by excellent technology and sustainable practices. In August 2025, the National Key Laboratory for Efficient Utilization of Nutrient Resources – Wuwei Jincang Enhanced Fertilizer Research Institute was established, which will be dedicated to the development and industrialization of enhanced fertilizers and new types of enhancers. Jincang Technology has also established a dual-core innovation framework of the “Shanghai R&D Center + Gansu industrial base,” covering the entire industrial chain of new fertilizer enhancement technologies, including “active ingredients for enhancers – formulations – enhanced fertilizer products – evaluation of application effects – evaluation of environmental impacts.”
