According to Shaanxi Coal Group, by 2025, Yulin Chemical Company will have successfully overcome the production constraints associated with DMO synthesis through catalyst upgrades, precise control of process parameters, and improvements to key equipment, enabling the daily production of ethylene glycol to remain above 6,100 tons. Through process adjustments, the ethylene glycol content in the mixed alcohol ester and heavy glycols was significantly reduced, raising the product yield from 97% to 98.5%, resulting in an annual increase of 31,500 tons in production. The annual production of polyester-grade ethylene glycol reached 2.015 million tons. The plant operated continuously, safely and stably for 1,188 days (as of January 9), with a product quality rate of 100%, thereby laying a solid foundation for the company’s profitability. According to Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical, by 2025, Phase 1 of the DMC facility will be operating at an average load factor of 115%, achieving \"start-up of production in the same year, overproduction in that same year, and continuous profitability.\" Key indicators such as DMC and power generation volume were all exceeded. By 2025, the company achieved operating revenue of 10.03 billion yuan and profits of 1.21 billion yuan, meeting 122.1% and 121.4% of the targets set by Shaanxi Coal Group respectively, as well as 240% of those targets. Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical Company’s 1.8 million tons of ethylene glycol is produced using coal as raw material, through Corin CCG gasification, and with ethylene glycol production technology from Japanese companies. It is divided into three series, each of the same scale, at 600,000 tons. In September 2022, the first gasification furnace was fed with material. In October, the entire process was completed in one go, resulting in the production of polyester-grade ethylene glycol. Full capacity operation for the entire series was achieved in November. In November 2023, the 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol plant passed the performance assessment and trial production acceptance. The first phase of the Yuguangxin Materials DMC project at Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical adopts Japanese Ube’s fixed-bed catalyst-based low-pressure one-step gas-phase reaction technology for the production of dimethyl carbonate. The capacity of the first phase is 100,000 tons per year. The entire process will be completed by October 2024.
