According to Hunan Anchun Company, the energy-saving and environmental-protection upgrade project for Shanxi cauliflower coal chemical industry adopts a combined \"adiabatic + isothermal\" process. The internal components of the adiabatic conversion furnace, as well as the entire isothermal conversion furnace, are supplied by Hunan Anchun. The DN3800 isothermal shift reactor was hoisted into place on January 18, 2026, at the site of the Shanxi Orchid Coal Chemical Industry Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Upgrading Project. The total length of the isothermal conversion furnace is 23.37 meters, its diameter is 3.8 meters, and its total weight is 265.8 tons. It is designed to handle a gas flow rate of 285,000 m3/h on a dry basis. According to Orchid Coal Chemicals in April, the urea production line of the new coal chemical project utilizes the Stamicarbon process, which is expected to reduce the cost per ton of urea by 50 yuan. The upgrading of Shanxi cauliflower coal chemical industry involves the use of 5 pressurized continuous gasification units manufactured by Saiding Company to replace the 37 batch gasification units currently in use at the 3 existing coal chemical enterprises. The project utilizes coal crushing under pressure combined with medium-pressure waste boiler gasification; the gas is cooled through shift conversion, and then purified via low-temperature methanol washing and liquid nitrogen washing. The resulting syngas is sent to the ammonia synthesis unit, and the existing urea production facility is modified, resulting in an annual production capacity of 490,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 560,000 tons of large-grain urea. In addition, 94,400 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) was produced as a by-product, along with 56,200 tons of 98% concentrated sulfuric acid. The industrial technology upgrade and transformation will not increase the company’s existing integrated production capacity for ammonia (methanol) and urea.
