Completion of energy-saving upgrade and renovation for Anhui Haoyuan Alcohol series products, along with environmental protection inspection

The 25th National \"Safety Production Month\" in 2026: Everyone should talk about safety and know how to handle emergencies; identify and eliminate potential risks and hazards. -------------------------------------------------- Anhui Haoyuan Chemical Group Company published the environmental protection acceptance report for the project aimed at improving the energy efficiency and quality of its alcohol-based products in June 2026. The energy-saving, quality-improving upgrade of Anhui Haoyuan Alcohol’s product line involves adding a negative-pressure tower at the rear end of the pre-tower in the methanol distillation unit of Project A, which has an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of dimethyl ether. This modification changes the distillation process from \"four towers with double effect\" to \"five towers with four effects\", and by altering the heat coupling method, it reduces the amount of steam required per unit of methanol produced. In addition, the ethylene glycol distillation unit was modified by adding another liquid-phase hydrogenation reactor, thereby reducing the aldehyde content in the product and improving ultraviolet transmittance. In April 2026, Anhui Haoyuan entrusted Anhui Zhonghuan Testing Company to carry out environmental impact assessment tests for the project aimed at improving the energy efficiency and quality of its alcohol-based products. During the acceptance period, the methanol unit operated at 96% of its capacity (design capacity: 1,050 tons per day), while the ethylene glycol unit operated at 100% of its capacity (design capacity: 900 tons per day). After the project is implemented, the production capacity of methanol and ethylene glycol remains unchanged. The methanol distillation unit saves 12 t/h of steam, while the ethylene glycol unit saves 20 t/h of steam. Anhui Haoyuan’s 500,000-ton methylene dichloride project includes a production capacity of 500,000 tons per year of methylene dichloride and 700,000 tons per year of the intermediate product methanol; it was put into operation in 2018. The 500,000-ton dimethyl ether project included a methanol plant, but no dimethyl ether plant was built. Haoyuan Chemical’s syngas-to-ethylene glycol project utilizes a portion of the syngas produced by the 500,000-ton dimethyl ether project, which has been desulfurized and decarburized through low-temperature methanol washing, and then subjectes to deep cryogenic separation to isolate hydrogen and CO from it. The separated CO is used in a dimethyl oxalate synthesis unit to produce the intermediate product dimethyl oxalate. Hydrogen is purified in a PSA unit. The purified hydrogen reacts with dimethyl oxalate to produce ethylene glycol. Driving in 2021.
