Wang Yan, deputy director of the China Geological Survey, said that in 2018 China will accelerate the industrialization of combustible ice, strengthen cooperation with relevant departments, and make great efforts to develop pilot testing areas for natural gas hydrates in regions such as the Shenhu area in the South China Sea. Wang Yan said that in 2018, China will also intensify the exploration of shale gas in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and accelerate the development of a demonstration base for the exploration and production of shale gas with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters in the western Hubei region. Continue geological surveys for uranium deposits in basins such as the Songliao, Ordos, and Erenhot basins, enhance the exploration of deep uranium resources, assess the resource potential of typical uranium-bearing basins, and address key technical challenges. In advancing the strategic actions for breakthroughs in mineral exploration, China will vigorously promote green surveys and green exploration. Strengthen the comprehensive evaluation of the \"trinity\" of resource potential, economic and technical conditions, and ecological and environmental impacts in resource-concentrated areas. Strengthen the investigation and evaluation of strategically important emerging minerals and critically scarce minerals, strive to make significant progress in key exploration areas and mineral deposit clusters, and ensure that the goals of the third phase of the strategic action for breakthroughs in mineral exploration are achieved on schedule. At the same time, it will support the pilot reform of the oil and gas exploration and production system. Continue to select favorable areas for oil and gas as well as shale gas, and advance the exploration of the awarded oil and gas blocks in Xinjiang and the awarded shale gas blocks in the south. Complete the compilation of the results of the 1:1 million marine regional geological surveys in China’s jurisdictional sea areas, and continue to carry out marine regional geological surveys at a scale of 1:250,000 for areas such as Sansha.
