China Air Separation won the EPC general contracting project for the technical renovation of the comprehensive backup system for air separation at China Coal Hubei Energy Chemical Group

Recently, China Air Separation Engineering Co., Ltd. successfully won the EPC general contract for the technical renovation of the liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen backup systems for the air separation plant at China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical”). This project provides a typical demonstration solution for the emergency support of air separation units in large-scale coal chemical enterprises, achieving the goals of an emergency support system in China’s coal chemical industry characterized by \"large gas flow rates, a wide range of product specifications, multiple pressure levels, and a response time of just ten seconds.\" It marks China’s air separation technology as being at an advanced level in terms of backup air separation systems of similar scale. The project is located in the Power and Utility Engineering Center of the Tukou plant owned by China Coal Enerchemical. This center currently has three air separation units, all of which were constructed by our company; the total oxygen production capacity reaches 155,000 Nm³/h, providing a stable gas supply to support the company’s production activities. To further enhance emergency support capabilities, the project has added a rapid backup emergency response system, which consists of two core components: an oxygen backup system and a nitrogen backup system. The system ensures a rapid response within 10 seconds in the event that any two air separation units fail or need maintenance, by supplying the downstream units with oxygen and nitrogen of various specifications as required. This enables the downstream units to meet their gas demands at 100% capacity around the clock, thus fulfilling the requirement for continuous supply without interruptions to production. To achieve this emergency supply objective, the project plans to build 1 atmospheric-pressure liquid oxygen tank, 2 atmospheric-pressure liquid nitrogen tanks, along with supporting facilities such as backup pumps, vaporizers, and buffer tanks. Through a scientifically coordinated layout of these facilities within the system, a comprehensive and highly reliable emergency gas supply network will be established. This win marks not only the third time that China Air Separation and China Coal Enerchemical have collaborated, following the first-phase 2X40,000 Nm³/h air separation unit project and the EPC general contracting project for the 75,000 Nm³/h air separation unit as part of the 1 million-ton-per-year methanol capacity expansion project, but it also represents a further demonstration of the deep trust between the two parties, setting a new foundation for achieving higher levels of mutual success.
