Dear experts, I would like to ask whether the distillation towers in chemical processing units such as aromatic extraction units use electric heating or heat transfer oil as heating media. I am also interested in any experience with such usage in other units; I have heard that refineries use this approach. Since we are planning to build a new aromatic extraction unit, and after calculations, it turns out that electricity is relatively cheaper, we are considering using electricity as the heating source for the distillation towers. However, we lack experience in designing systems for this purpose. Do any of you have any relevant experience in this area?
