In accordance with the \"Notice from the Office of the Zhejiang Province Work Safety Committee on Thoroughly Learning from Accident Lessons and Strengthening Work Safety Measures for Hazardous Chemicals in the Near Future\" (Zhe An Wei Ban [2022] No. 27), safety diagnostics are to be conducted on enterprises’ environmental protection facilities; how should the fire hazard level of waste gas and wastewater treatment stations be determined?
There is a risk if the exhaust gas from wastewater aeration tanks is not contained
With the exception of a few high-concentration organic wastewater streams containing readily soluble and non-volatile organic compounds (for example, those with a low calorific value greater than 4000 kJ/kg), ordinary organic wastewater is itself non-flammable; however, the concentration of organic compounds in the gas phase desorbed above the wastewater surface can very likely reach the lower explosive limit. Therefore, it is still very necessary to consider the explosion-proof requirements for lighting fixtures and electrical equipment within a certain range based on the explosion hazard zone, unless it can be proven that the concentration of organic substances in the gas phase above the wastewater surface under various operating conditions is significantly lower than the lower explosive limit of the mixture.
