What should be done if the wall thickness of the pipe is less than the minimum thickness of the neck of a welded flange with a neck? Can the flange neck also be thinned? For example, in HG20592, the minimum wall thickness S for the PN40 DN500 flange neck is ≥14.2 mm, whereas the wall thickness of the DN500 pipe used in this case is 9 mm. How should it be handled?

It corresponds to a connection with unequal wall thicknesses; the thicker end can be thinned out using the groove pattern for welding unequal-wall-thickness connections (usually, the inner groove has a slope of 1:3, while the outer groove has the same angle). Typically, the same piping system is designed using the same design pressure to determine its strength. However, due to the use of different materials, the wall thickness required for calculation varies depending on the physical strength of those materials (tensile strength, yield strength). At this point, the aforementioned problem arises, and local processing of the port is required.
The thickness of the flange neck is already the minimum wall thickness; is it permissible to thin out the neck that already has this minimum wall thickness?
