Jiaxing Petrochemical plans to carry out a technical upgrade project to increase its annual production of purified terephthalic acid to 3 million tons. On July 30, 2024, the website of the Zhejiang Zhapu Economic Development Zone (Jiaxing Port Area) Management Committee issued a announcement stating that it intended to issue approval opinions on the environmental impact assessment documents for this technical upgrade project at Jiaxing Petrochemical Co., Ltd. The technical upgrade project of Jiaxing Petrochemical Co., Ltd. to increase its annual production of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) to 3 million tons involves an investment of 3 billion yuan. It is located within the existing factory complex of Jiaxing Petrochemical Co., Ltd., in the chemical new materials area of Jiaxing Port Area. This is an expansion project that involves the demolition of the existing (Phase 1) PTA plant with an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tons. The latest generation of PTA patented technology (P8++) from INVISTA Company will be utilized to build a new PTA plant with an annual production capacity of 3 million tons. Upon the implementation of this project, Jiaxing Petrochemical’s total production capacity of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) will increase from 3.8 million tons per year to 5 million tons per year, while the output of benzoic acid will reach 12,540 tons per year.
