On the afternoon of September 14, the signing ceremony for the Atawi natural gas processing plant project in Iraq was held there, marking another significant project in China-Iraq and international energy cooperation. As revealed at the signing ceremony, the Atawi gas processing plant project is located within the Atawi oil field, 60 kilometers west of Basra, an important energy hub in Iraq. The total area covered by the project is 800,000 square meters. Its main function is to process the associated gas from the oil field, with a designed annual processing capacity of 3.3 billion cubic meters. The total construction period for the project is 39 months, with design, construction, commissioning, and operation to be carried out in phases. As a \"milestone project\" for CPECC in the Middle East market, this project has achieved multiple breakthroughs in terms of technical complexity and performance standards. On one hand, it employs internationally advanced processes for the purification and separation of associated gas, incorporating efficient modular technologies for desulfurization and decarbonization as well as a system for zero emissions of exhaust gases. These technologies enable the precise separation of components such as methane, ethane, and propane from the associated gas, while also achieving a sulfur compound removal rate of over 99.9%, thus fully meeting the highest environmental standards in the European Union and the Middle East ; On the other hand, the project introduces the \"integrated smart operation and maintenance platform\" in Iraq for the first time; by using digital twin technology to monitor the operational status of equipment in real time, it is expected to increase operation and maintenance efficiency by 30% and significantly reduce subsequent operating costs.
