The ecological restoration project for the largest open-pit mine in the country has achieved its interim construction goals. After 7 months of filling operations, the ecological restoration project for the open-pit of Dagushan Iron Mine at Ansteel Mining, which is the largest of its kind in the country, has seen 12.14 million tons of tailings filled in, thus meeting the interim construction objectives. It is reported that this project employs a method of cementing and solidifying tailings for backfilling. The tailings used are those produced by various mineral processing plants affiliated with Ansteel Resources, which helps to reduce the land required for tailing ponds and allows more land to be used for agriculture and forestry. Since the start of this project, in the face of complex challenges such as limited space at the bottom of the open-pit mines, poor drainage, and high requirements for the quality of the fill material, the relevant units at Ansteel Resources have worked closely with China ENFI Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. to overcome these difficulties – by constructing dams in different areas and increasing the concentration of the fill material to reduce water seepage, thereby accelerating the curing process of the fill material ; Improve process, technical, and operational standards to enhance the strength and stability of the fillers ; Strengthen the management of logistics channels and equipment maintenance to ensure the smooth progress of project construction.
