On February 10, a tender announcement was issued for the biomass gasification process package and technical services project under the first phase of the Handan Biomass Green Methanol Project. Project Overview: The first phase of the Handan biomass green methanol project is located in the Chemical Industry Park of Cixian County, Handan City, Hebei Province. The project site has an ample supply of biomass raw materials, convenient transportation, and significant overall regional advantages. This project utilizes biomass pressurized bubbling fluidized bed technology and syngas purification technology, as well as low-pressure methanol synthesis technology and biomass boiler power generation technology. Under normal operating conditions, there is no consumption of fossil fuels such as natural gas and liquid fuels, meeting the requirements for producing methanol in a zero-carbon process. This project employs a gasification process, specifically a pressurized fluidized-bed gasification process. Currently, the relatively mature furnace type has a single-furnace feed rate of 600 tons per day. On the premise of self-generation of plant electricity, this setup is designed to achieve an annual methanol production capacity of 110,000 tons. The biomass gasification process package and technical services for the first phase of the Handan Biomass Green Methanol project, including the development of such a process package, technical licensing, technical services, and training services; meanwhile, assisting the tenderer with relevant special evaluations and regulatory procedures. Scope of the biomass pressurized bubbling fluidized bed gasification package: starting from the atmospheric-pressure raw material receiving bin in the gasification section, up to the outlet of the syngas scrubber ； Ash and slag discharge unit ； The wastewater is discharged after passing through the ammonia evaporation treatment unit. For details, please refer to “Appendix II: Technical Specifications for the Biomass Gasification Package and Technical Services for the First Phase of Handan Biomass Green Methanol Project”. Other requirements: The core gasification equipment (gasifier body, cyclone separator, waste heat boiler) is planned to be procured separately. The supplier must provide technical documentation that meets the procurement requirements. Planned start date: March 9, 2026 (subject to change) ； Planned completion date: April 30, 2026 (subject to actual circumstances). On July 28, 2025, the list of candidates shortlisted for the engineering design services related to the first phase of Yunda Energy Technology Group Co., Ltd.’s 180,000-ton biomass green methanol project in Handan was made public. Winner of the bid: Sinopec Nanjing Engineering Co., Ltd. On January 16, 2024, Handan City signed an agreement with Windey Energy Technology Group, Geely Holding Group, and China Merchants Taipingwan Development and Investment Company regarding the Handan Demonstration Project for the Production of One Million Tons of Green Methanol. Under the agreement, the three companies will collaborate in Handan City to build a green methanol production facility. This will facilitate the development of systems for methanol refueling, distribution, storage, and trading, as well as the promotion of clean energy vehicles, thereby creating a demonstration area for the production of millions of tons of green methanol.
