As shown in the image, one of the pipelines in our installation is DN40, but I noticed that a small section of pipeline above the flow meter is DN20. Is this correct way of installation? I’m not sure what type of flow meter it is; if it’s a volume-type meter, I wonder if the installation distance between the front and back isn’t sufficient. . .
This depends on the manufacturing process; generally, companies won’t take on such projects. I think it’s possible that the flow meter was purchased incorrectly, and since there wasn’t time to replace it, we had to make do with it
Wood has an impact; however, if the flow meter measures flow rate, there needs to be a straight section of pipe to ensure stable flow, approximately 10 times the diameter of the pipe, otherwise the measurements will be inaccurate
With this design, depending on the type of flow meter, the straight section of the mass flow meter must be at least 38D in length
This is common; the diameter needs to change before and after the flow meter
Flowmeters provide the most accurate measurements when the pipe is full. Therefore, the DN20 flow meter is selected based on the flow rate inside the pipe, not by calculating the diameter of the pipe. Additionally, this diagram should represent a flow direction from bottom to top, as straight pipe sections are required before and after the flow meter, with a length of 10 times the pipe diameter in front and 5 times the pipe diameter behind it
Let’s first take a look at the process flow; indeed, there is a need for some diameter changes before and after the flow meter. But it cannot get smaller; usually it gets larger to ensure the medium fills the tube.
