Dear experts: I have just started working on a fine chemicals project, and currently we are dealing with the issue of handling the gases released from the flammable liquid storage areas within the project. The liquids stored in these tanks include methanol, acetic acid, phosphorus trichloride, n-butyl ester, and other flammable substances. With stricter environmental regulations in place now, it is necessary to collect and treat all exhaust gases generated. The storage tanks are equipped with nitrogen protection systems, and the exhaust gases are collected through a central exhaust pipeline for treatment. How can we determine the volume of these exhaust gases as well as the concentration of flammable substances in them? The second is, how is the amount of exhaust gas, such as that from the reactor exhaust vents in the workshop, determined? How is the concentration of combustible substances in exhaust gases determined? The third point is related to the liquefied hydrocarbon irrigation areas (chloromethane and liquid ammonia): how should the gases released as a result of safety valve failures be handled? Can they be discharged directly? Since Party A’s factory site is relatively small and does not have the capability to install flares, how should this be handled? I’ve done a preliminary calculation; the safe venting rate is around 10 t/h in the event of a fire. How can such a large volume be handled?
