Storage tanks for chemical liquids experience significant agitation due to simultaneous feeding and discharging, which makes it easy to generate static electricity. But are there any regulations or standards that mandate that feeding and discharging cannot occur simultaneously? If so, could you please inform me of the specific regulations? Since our company has a methanol tank, and due to limitations during construction only one storage tank was available, the design team designed it in that way. The discharge process is necessary to supply the facility with material, so it cannot be stopped; unloading can only take place simultaneously with the discharge process. Now our Environmental and Safety department has pointed out that this approach isn’t acceptable, but he can’t specify any concrete standards. That’s why I came here to ask everyone for advice.
