How to determine the diameter of the safety valve bypass line

May I ask that in current safety valve designs, one valve is used while another serves as a backup, and a bypass line is also provided. What is the purpose of this bypass line for safety valves? What diameter should be chosen? I’ve seen several sets of drawings; in some cases the diameter of the auxiliary pipes is the same as that of the inlet pipe, while in other cases it’s smaller. I’m looking for an explanation – thank you!
Now, it is no longer recommended to use one safety valve in operation and another as a backup. The bypass line of the safety valve is used during switching; the diameter of the bypass line can be either the same as that of the safety valve’s inlet pipe or one size smaller
