In addition, I used Aspen to simulate the saturated vapor pressure of ethanol at minus 50°C. It is very small (see picture). I feel that the breathing valve can be canceled and a breather pipe can be directly installed. But in this case, will a large amount of cold energy be lost from the breather pipe, and the mouth of the pipe may freeze to death in rainy days?

The loss will not be huge and can be accepted. Petrochemical regulations require that fixed roof tanks for Class A, B and B liquids should be equipped with flame arresters and breathing valves. Do you have any good suggestions?

Do I need to add a vacuum barrier? ---I read the GBT 18442-2011 Low-temperature Insulated Pressure Vessel Specification. The specification requires that the working pressure is not less than 0.1MPa, which means that the storage tank must be pressurized, not normal pressure. As an ethanol storage tank, it is not necessary to design it to be pressurized. Moreover, the storage media targeted by the specification are all liquefied gases (liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, etc.). Is nitrogen sealing added? ---After all, ethanol is not a poisonous and harmful liquid, so you can add a breathing valve.

A 3m3 cold ethanol storage tank is prepared for the refrigeration unit (and then a separate pump is used to send the cold ethanol in the storage tank to the required equipment). We have a 1m3 circulation tank with a temperature of -55°C. It is equipped by a refrigerator manufacturer. It has a vacuum jacket on the outside and foam insulation inside. It doesn’t lose much heat and no ice can form on the outer wall.
Does your 1m3 circulating tank have a breathing valve on the top? If so, will it not freeze here?
