CCUS stands for carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies. This pipeline connects Qilu Petrochemical with the Gaoqing oil field in Shengli Oil Field; it is an important part of China’s first million-ton-scale CCUS full-chain demonstration project – the Shengli Oil Field million-ton-scale CCUS project. As of March 28, the total amount of carbon dioxide injected into this project has exceeded 1.3 billion cubic meters, driving continuous progress in the fields of large-scale carbon emission reduction and green energy development in China. (Xinhua News Agency) In the past, China’s CCUS industry relied on imports for its key equipment. Zhang Shiming, an expert in CCUS from Shengli Oilfield, explained that through continuous research and efforts, the team developed an original theoretical and technical approach for the high-pressure mixed-phase flooding of carbon dioxide in deep, low-permeability continental oil reservoirs, which enabled an increase in crude oil recovery rates by over 15 percentage points, as well as a 20 percentage point increase in the rate of carbon dioxide retention in these reservoirs ; Overcome the technology for capturing millions of tons of carbon dioxide with low energy consumption and low costs, achieving a 19% reduction in energy consumption per unit and a reduction of costs by over 30% ; Key engineering equipment for the entire process was developed, overcoming the challenges to the large-scale application of CCUS. At present, all the carbon dioxide injected into the million-ton-class CCUS project at the Shengli Oilfield is sequestered underground. The daily oil production has increased from 220 tons to 460 tons, doubling and continuing to rise, which indicates that the CCUS technology in the Shengli Oilfield has moved from \"technical validation\" to actual industrial application. Yang Yong, the key leader of Shengli Oilfield, said that in the future, the field will focus on promoting the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, and will develop \"four million-ton\" demonstration projects related to the capture and utilization of low-concentration carbon dioxide from coal-fired power plants at Shengli Oilfield, striving to become a provider of technical solutions and a standard-setter for the entire CCUS industry chain.
