Abnormal flow fluctuation in the plunger metering pump

We are using plunger metering pumps with a single motor and multiple pump heads. Currently, one of the pumps has abnormal flow rates, which fluctuate and cannot be controlled. When air was released from the exhaust port, it was found that there was air in the pipeline; presumably, this air is affecting the flow rate. However, we inspected the check valves for inlet and outlet of this pump, the packing seal, the piston, etc., and found no abnormalities ； Additionally, the pipeline was flushed, and there were no impurities. I really can’t figure out where the gas comes from; we’re using liquid caustic at room temperature. I would be extremely grateful if the experts here could offer some guidance!
