Having a good mentor is certainly beneficial for your growth, but it ultimately depends on you to be motivated to improve. When I just graduated, I met a good mentor. Although he wasn’t strict, he kept training me in every aspect, so during the roughly one year I spent with him, I learned how to handle the design and layout of small-scale factories, process piping, equipment structure, project management, and operational procedures – which **reduced the time it took me to gain experience on the job site**. Now I am able to handle things on my own and have become the technical leader of a company. Based on my personal experience, first of all you need to have a solid theoretical foundation; only then will you be able to analyze and assess specific problems that arise in production practice, and come up with solutions that are somewhat useful as a reference.
