Is it necessary to install surface thermocouples in the hydrogenation reactor as well?

As the title suggests, thermocouples are now installed in each bed of the reactor to monitor the temperature of those beds. So, is it still necessary to install surface thermocouples? I hope experts can offer their guidance.
The purpose of installing surface thermocouples is mainly to monitor the temperature of the equipment material during thermal performance tests of the equipment.
Surface thermocouple probes are designed specifically for measuring the surface temperature of solid media of various shapes, as well as the temperature inside liquids, gases, and rubber. You need to understand from a process perspective whether it is necessary to monitor the surface temperature of the hydrogenation reactor It needs to be added if it is required by the manufacturing process; if it isn’t necessary for the process, then consideration should be given to whether it needs to be added from another source of leavening
I’d like to ask further: do all current hydrogenation units have this? Is it standard? Is it okay if there isn’t any? Also, aren’t the materials used for reactors nowadays of high quality? Will this be available in the future? Thank you!
The current design basically no longer uses it; we still had hydrogen reactors 12 years ago, but they’re not used in the subsequent phases! It’s okay if there’s nothing.
