Are there any standards regarding underground tanks? For example, under what conditions must underground waste collection tanks be designed? Is it necessary to design it whenever there is involved the sealed discharge of liquid materials?
I’m not sure if there are any relevant regulations regarding this. Our factory had all the equipment upgraded before the shutdown for major repairs last year; it was the pressure related to environmental regulations that forced us to do so. During current shutdowns, water from the lowest points of the equipment and pipelines is not allowed to be discharged into the sewage treatment plant, as there is a concern that this could affect the efficiency of the treatment process. During the previous shutdown, a lot of liquid from those lowest points had to be transported using tank trucks, which is a very time-consuming process.
