Dear experts, I would like to ask how to identify eccentric reducers on process piping diagrams; it would be great if examples could be provided (especially those related to vertical pipes). Thank you. I’ll offer a reward once this issue is resolved
I’ve never seen eccentric tees used on risers! ! Have you seen it?
Generally, an eccentric reducer is installed at the pump inlet; if there are special requirements regarding the vertical pipe or horizontal pipe, those will be specified. Normally, designers won’t suggest the use of an eccentric reducer – would they want to create trouble for themselves? :P
Generally, in high-pressure hydrogen pipelines, the outlet of the hydrogen compressor is designed in the way you mentioned

The shape of the diagram is trapezoidal, with one side being straight; this design is rarely used in ordinary pipelines, unless it’s at the pump inlet where considerations regarding exhaust or discharge are involved, or when it’s designed to be mounted on a pipe rack...
The symbol for concentric reducers is an isosceles triangle, while that for eccentric reducers is a right triangle. Indications of the diameter change at the reducer point are usually provided, such as 150/100
An eccentric elbow with a flat top should be installed at the inlet of the water pump to prevent the formation of air pockets; if it is necessary to remove accumulated water, an eccentric elbow with a flat bottom can be considered. In fact, these two types of eccentric flanges are the same; they just need to be rotated 180° during installation. If the process design requires special functions such as exhaust or discharge of waste materials, the installation of eccentric tees can be considered; generally, concentric reducing tees are sufficient.
The pump inlet and outlet are too close to each other and both point upward; the pipes are vertical in order to create spacing, and eccentric tees are used for the vertical pipes
On the piping diagram, it should be indicated whether the eccentric fitting has its top or bottom aligned, otherwise it cannot be installed.
I remember that eccentricity is indicated by a code, like E32/25; it’s generally used for infusion or exhaust purposes, otherwise there’s no need for it.
