For the design requirements regarding evacuation stairs in industrial buildings as specified in GB 50016-2006 Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings, refer to 3.7.6: High-rise industrial buildings, as well as multi-story buildings classified as categories A, B, and C, shall be equipped with enclosed stairwells or outdoor stairs. High-rise factories with a building height of more than 32 meters and more than 10 people on any floor shall be equipped with smoke-proof stairwells or outdoor stairs. GB 50016-2014 and GB 50016-2014 (2018 edition) have made no changes to this clause. However, some sentences are missing from the explanatory text; for example, in GB 50016-2006 it is stated that \"compared to civil buildings, industrial buildings generally have higher floor heights. For industrial buildings with four or five floors, their building height can reach 24 meters, and the conventional approach for staircases is to use open-type staircases.\" Taking into account that some factories are tall but have few employees, and thus contain little flammable decorative material in their structures, the requirements for installing smoke-proof stairwells have been adjusted; that is, for factories with a height of less than 32 meters and fewer than 10 employees, enclosed stairwells can be used. Additionally, when the factory building is open-plan, enclosed stairwells may not be necessary. However, if there are many people in the factory building, enclosed stairwells should be used to ensure the evacuation of personnel. ”The parts in red are no longer present in either GB 50016-2014 or GB 50016-2014 (2018 version). What does this mean? The factories used in the projects involved are open-type; what should be done according to existing regulations?
