Our company recycles aluminum-containing wastewater by using sodium aluminate and calcium carbonate to produce polyaluminum chloride from this wastewater; it is necessary to filter out the impurities present, mainly calcium carbonate and calcium chloride. The solid content is around 5%, and the particles of the solid residue are very small – according to the data provided by our technical team, their size ranges from 1 to 100 microns, with an average size of 9 microns. When stirred, the mixture resembles milk tea in consistency; its viscosity is not high, and it feels similar to water. What separation method would be suitable in this case? The centrifuge manufacturers examined the sample on site and deemed it unsuitable. As for filters, which type would be appropriate? We need to process 45 cubic meters of liquid per day. Thank you
What company are you? What is the aluminum content in the scrap aluminum alloy, and what is the amount of solid matter?

There are only two methods in the industry for separating solid and liquid in polymerized aluminum: natural sedimentation and plate and frame filtration. For your process, plate and frame filtration should work fine; the key lies in controlling the reaction – if the reaction isn’t well controlled, filtration will be difficult
Polyaluminum production enterprises generally use plate and frame filter presses, with diaphragm-type ones being the preferred choice.
Just use the calcium aluminate powder method – that’s how we treat the aluminum-containing wastewater in our company; it’s very simple! Explain your process in detail; I’ll take a look. It’s possible that the issue lies in the reaction temperature and time. If a gel is formed, then even using pressure filtration won’t help, and this batch will be waste!
