Newcomers to process design find the standards so tedious they feel sleepy reading them; each one is thicker than textbooks on chemical engineering principles
I’m not a craftsman either, but I’m very interested in crafts.
I studied Chemical Engineering and Technology in university, and after graduation I managed to get a job at a chemical engineering design firm, where I worked on chemical process design. Since starting work, I moved from my ignorance from university days and my idealistic views of design to carrying out process design in a practical manner. It is very important to have a thorough understanding of chemical engineering principles from university, as well as knowledge in areas such as reaction engineering. What was once theory has now been put into practice; however, even with great care, problems can still arise. Chemical engineering principles, process manuals, engineering design manuals, and pipeline design manuals are all valuable resources for learning theory. When designing, it is essential to master these concepts and apply them in accordance with relevant standards and regulatory guidelines. Only by putting in effort can one go further on the path of chemical engineering design.

I graduated in chemical engineering; I first worked in safety management for a year, then spent two years in business operations. Now I’ve returned to work in process engineering. It feels like there’s so much I need to catch up on and even more to learn. I hope someone experienced can help me figure out a clear direction to follow. I’m now ready to focus on working in process engineering.
