Gentlemen: Why can’t chloromethane and methane be burned in an RTO? Thank you!
When chlorides are incinerated in an RTO, dioxins are generated at certain temperatures
First, the combustion of substances containing chlorides can cause hydrochloric acid corrosion to the equipment. Second, methane and other hydrocarbons in the exhaust gases need to be monitored, as their levels may exceed the allowed limits
Halogene-containing organic gases are usually not sent to RTOs; instead, adsorption or absorption methods are typically used.
The HCl produced as a by-product of the reaction can corrode the equipment, such as the regenerative bricks, and it may also lead to the formation of dioxins and other substances
How good is it to recover chloromethane? Why is it necessary to burn it at high temperatures in an RTO furnace?
If the purity is high, methods such as condensation or adsorption should be considered for recovery; if the composition is more complex and only contains chloromethane, it should be possible to use an RTO. Attention must be paid to corrosion prevention measures for the equipment and pipelines, as well as measures to control dioxins.

Chloromethane can be recycled
Try to recycle it; do not send it to an RTO for incineration.
