In winter, the incoming hydrogen gas contains a significant amount of water, causing condensation to form at the lowest points of U-shaped bends such as flow meters and control valves. To prevent freezing, employees regularly drain this water from these low points using drain valves. However, frequent opening and closing of these drain valves may lead to leaks within them. Are there any specialized water traps for gas systems that can be installed on these drain valves to facilitate automatic drainage?
Isn’t there a liquid separation tank in the unit? We always assign people to take care of the liquid separation tank

Let’s see if it’s possible to solve the problem at its source. Even with check valves, such as those used for steam, hydrogen can still leak. In such cases, the gas is usually directed into underground oil storage tanks; but from a safety perspective, this approach isn’t sufficient. The only reliable method is manual water removal, and someone needs to stay on duty to do that
Since it is hydrogen, which is flammable and explosive, leaks must be prevented; ordinary drain valves are not suitable for this purpose. Natural gas drain valves can be used, as they ensure zero leakage. A balance tube needs to be connected during installation, and the effect is very good.
