Help: I checked the official websites of some manufacturers of pneumatic diaphragm pumps, and their suction height is claimed to be as high as 5 meters. In practical use, what height can the suction reach with pneumatic diaphragm pumps?
5M isn’t much; 7M models are quite common. If there is no check valve at the inlet and no tank pump, dry suction over 5M depends on the pump’s sealing performance, and regular use in such conditions might be challenging
The suction lift of any pump is based on the atmospheric pressure at sea level. The suction lift values stated for some products are those measured by their manufacturers using their own testing equipment; however, it is up to you to determine whether the pipelines used in your actual application are sealed and can withstand the negative pressure generated when water is drawn in. It is generally not possible to achieve the technical specifications listed by the manufacturer in the samples, as there is a lot of exaggeration in them.
